KSBA will be the leading advocate and resource for public school boards on behalf of successful students and stronger communities.

Mission

The mission of KSBA is to enhance school board leadership in maximizing student achievement through superior support and services.

2009 Goals

  1. Member Ownership: We will increase member awreness and value in association services.
  2. Advocacy: Will support legislation and other state and national actions that strengthen public education, promote student achievement and protect local control.
  3. Service Delivery: Will invest in staff and resources that contribute to the efficient delivery of services and continued improvement of the association.
  4. Partnerships: Will engage in partnerships that strenghten public education and enhance local boards’ leadership of student achievement.

As these goals suggest, KSBA strives for member ownership, advocacy, service delivery and partnerships for local school board members as well as district and school staff. Established in 1936, KSBA is a private, nonprofit service organization composed of almost 900 members of local boards of education. As such, KSBA is the largest organization of elected officials in Kentucky.

A board of directors consisting of 27 local school board members provide the association’s direction. The board consists of:

  • president;
  • president-elect;
  • immediate past president;
  • twelve directors-at-large; and
  • twelve regional chairpersons

The Kentucky School Boards Association (KSBA) is a nonprofit corporation of school boards from each public school district in Kentucky. The association, founded in 1936, serves school board members and school districts in such areas as governmental relations, board member and team development, risk management, legal services, policy services, publications and community relations. It is governed by a 27-member board of directors made up of representatives elected as regional chairpersons or as directors-at-large. With nearly 900 school board members, KSBA is the largest organization of elected officials in Kentucky.
