Calendar set for legislative action during 2007 Kentucky General Assembly

KSBA Governmental Relations Director Alicia Sells shares the key dates for the upcoming 2007 session of the Kentucky General Assembly:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 2: Session convenes for four days of legislative activity.  As this is a "short year" session, this will be the period when the legislature conducts its organizational business.  In the break between the two parts of the 2007 session, bill drafts may be requested for introduction when the session reconvenes.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 6: Second part of the session opens.

  • Friday, Feb. 9: Last day for new bill requests

  • Friday, Feb. 16: Last day for new Senate bills

  • Tuesday, Feb. 20: Last day for new House bills

  • Friday, March 9 and Monday, March 12: days set aside for concurrence committee work

  • Tuesday, March 13 through Friday, March 23, days set aside for consideration of any gubernatorial vetoes

  • Tuesday, March 30: adjournment

You may track the legislature's committee meetings via links from the KSBA Web site at www.ksba.org/govrelmain.htm.

Sells will be sending board members and superintendents a legislative issues survey in December, following completion of interim legislative studies.
