Nominating committee appointed for 2007 elections to KSBA Board of Directors

KSBA President Brenda Jackson has appointed the following individuals to serve as the nominating committee for elections to the association's Board of Directors as directors-at-large and president elect at the 2007 Annual Conference business meeting, Saturday, Feb. 24:

Chairman:  Bill Lovell, McLean County school board; immediate past president, KSBA

Member:  Dr. John Ed Dunn, Daviess County school board; KSBA director-at-large

Member:  Ted Ramey, Fleming County school board; regional director, Eastern KY North

Member:  Ronnie Holmes, Graves County school board; regional director, First

Member:  Kathy Reed, Bardstown Independent school board; regional director, Fourth

The 2007 elections will fill four director-at-large seats on the KSBA board and the post of president-elect.  Under association bylaws, three incumbent directors-at-large are eligible to serve a second three-year term:

  • Jeanie Schaffter, Union County

  • Joe England, Harrison County

  • Judy Miller, Spencer County

Jeff Stumbo of Floyd County is completing his final year of eligibility as a director-at-large.

Any local board member may be nominated for the position of director-at-large, while any member of the KSBA board may be nominated to become president elect.

Under KSBA bylaws, there is a nominating committee as well as an open nominations process.

The nominating committee is to present Jackson with a slate of nominees for the officer or director-at-large positions no later than 45 days before the date of the annual conference.  The association will then report the action of the nominating committee to all board members by Dec. 15.

Board members who want to be considered by the nominating committee should send a letter of nomination by Nov. 1 to Executive Director Bill Scott in care of KSBA, 260 Democrat Drive, Frankfort, KY  40601.

At any time, any board may nominate a qualified person for any position to be filled by providing, in writing, the name of that person to Scott as long as it takes place no later than thirty-five days (Jan. 18, 2007) before the Annual Conference.
