Whitley County board member nominated to KSBA leadership post

A 10-year member of the Whitley County Board of Education has been recommended for the leadership track that leads to becoming president of the Kentucky School Boards Association.

Delmar Mahan of Corbin has been nominated to a two-year term as president elect of the association.   The election will take place during the business meeting portion of the KSBA Annual Conference on Saturday, Feb. 24 in Louisville.

Mahan is a graduate of Whitley County High School and Eastern Kentucky University.  He has served as a member of the KSBA Insurance Trust board since 1997, and was first elected to the KSBA Board of Directors in 2002 as a regional chairperson.  He currently serves on the board as a director-at-large.

A parent volunteer and PTA member in the Whitley County system, Mahan is an accountant specializing in audits of public and nonpublic entities.

(Note: the full report of the nominating committee appointed by KSBA President Brenda Jackson will be communicated to members in a report being mailed out this week, in accordance with association bylaws.)
