"A brighter future through better public schools"

 

Deadline to nominate local leader, legislator for KSBA KIDS First award is Friday, Jan. 5

KSBA will again honor four Kentuckians for their advocacy on behalf of Kentucky's public schools and students during the association's annual conference Feb. 23-25 in Louisville.

The fourth annual KIDS First Advocacy Awards will recognize outstanding service in four categories:

· The Kentucky Senate                                 

· The Kentucky House of Representatives 

· Local School Superintendents

· Local School Board Members

You may nominate a person in each category.  Nominees must be legislators, board members, or superintendents currently in office.  A special committee of the KSBA Board of Directors will review the nominations and select the award recipients.

To nominate a legislator for a KIDS First Award

In a maximum of two typed, double-spaced pages, please describe how your nominee has:

        Demonstrated his or her commitment to furthering the success of public schools in Kentucky.

        Championed legislative initiatives that have created opportunities for all Kentucky children to learn at high levels.

        Supported your local schools and educational community.

To nominate a board member and/or a superintendent for a KIDS First Award

In a maximum of two typed, double-spaced pages, please describe how your nominee has:

        Worked as an advocate on legislative initiatives for Kentucky’s children.

        Demonstrated his or her commitment to furthering the success of public schools in Kentucky.

        Worked in his or her local community to garner support for public schools from elected officials and the community.

Nominations are due at KSBA by Friday, Jan. 5, 2007
