Agenda set for 12th annual Kentucky Safe Schools,

Successful Students conference

Registration brochures for the KSBA/Kentucky Center for School Safety Safe Schools Conference are going in the mail this week for the event Oct. 2-3 at the Galt House East in Louisville.  Online registration also will be available later this month.

Some of the 29 workshop topics on this year's conference agenda include:

  • Assessing bullying at the middle and high school levels

  • Recognizing drug paraphernalia and weapons

  • Understanding what the kids mean when they text message

  • Creating brain-friendly classrooms

  • Responding to sexual victimization

  • Best practices in alternative education

  • Preparing for an influenza pandemic

  • Methamphetamine awareness and response

Board members may earn up to 8.5 hours of annual professional development credit at this conference, while EILA leadership hours for administrators are also available.
