Six KSBA regions to choose new regional chairs this fall

Nominations are now being sought for board members to run for election as regional chairperson to the KSBA Board of Directors for 2007 and 2008 in the following regions:

Eastern Kentucky South - Current regional Chairperson: Ann Carter, Pikeville Independent

Fourth - Kathy Reed, Bardstown Independent

Middle Cumberland - Gretchen Cole, Somerset Independent

Northern Kentucky - Truman Ellis, Erlanger-Elsmere Independent

Second - Lisa Preston, Webster County

Upper Cumberland - Dr. John Jeffries, Williamsburg Independent

Each of the current regional chairpersons are forming nominating committees from among the members throughout the region. Then, each of these six regional chairpersons will mail the members in their regions to seek nominations. To confirm which KSBA region your district is in, click here.

Nominating committees are to be finalized by Sept. 1. Nominations of the candidates to stand for election at this year's fall regional meetings are to be reported to KSBA President Brenda Jackson by Sept. 15.

Duties of the regional chairperson include participation in the quarterly meetings of the KSBA Board of Directors, one committee of the board and the twice-a-year meetings of Education Commissioner Gene Wilhoit's Local School Board Member Advisory Council. (Travel and lodging expenses related to these meetings are covered by the association). The regional chairperson's district also hosts the fall regional meeting during his or her two years' service in that post.

KSBA's other six regions will have their elections in the fall of 2007.
