New faces leading KSBA Superintendent Search service

If you didn't attend the KSBA Summer Leadership Institute last month, you may not be aware of changes in the association's Superintendent Search Service.

Two experienced former superintendents, Butch Canty of Ohio County and Mike Oder of Frankfort Independent, have accepted the responsibilities to assist boards and their screening committees in what is one of the most important decisions a school board will make -- the hiring of a new superintendent.

Both Canty and Oder have extensive backgrounds in recruiting employees through their years as district administrators.  They will work with Jhan Wilson, who has provided the staff support for KSBA's superintendent searches for more than a decade.

Canty will serve boards in the western half of the Commonwealth, while Oder will work principally with boards in the eastern portion of the state.  Canty will continue to be a provider of KSBA's facilities planning service.
