Mainstays:

• This service collects data and produces district-specific student achievement books for all board members and superintendents covering such areas as:

• Ø test scores,
• Ø dropout,
• Ø attendance rates (by school), and
• Ø revenue and spending.

• Staff provide telephone consultation and training for board members and superintendents on possible uses of the student achievement data, and react to changes in finances.
• Staff produced detailed analyses of proposed education budgets during the 2002 General Assembly regular and special sessions.

Worth mentioning: This past year, several important data reports were produced including:

• a comprehensive look at student achievement trends statewide (see above).
• a comparison of Kentucky school finance and academic rankings with neighboring states (see above).
• an analysis showing how local education funding has increased in Kentucky while the percentages of the state budget being spent on public education has decreased.
