Insurance / Risk Management

With a commitment to integrity and reliability, KSBIT’s mission is to provide comprehensive, affordable insurance coverage and risk management services for Kentucky’s educational institutions.

For more than a quarter century, KSBA has been the primary insurer of Kentucky schools through the Kentucky School Boards Insurance Trust (KSBIT). This self-insurance pool of coverage is owned by school districts and managed by a board of trustees of school board members and administrators to offer the most comprehensive coverage available.

The challenges and risks facing school districts, board members and their employees are varied and complex: on the job injuries, employment decisions, hail storms, floods, bus accidents and many more. KSBA is a risk management partner providing a consistent source of solutions at competitive prices. As a non-profit organization, KSBA’s sole objective is to help districts protect their resources through a complete program of risk management. KSBA’s panel of defense attorneys collectively is recognized as the school law experts in Kentucky. Our liability program covers the district, board members, employees, authorized volunteers and site-based council members and is constantly being redesigned to meet the changing needs of participating districts.
