Updates and Maintenance

Policy and procedure development requires a substantial investment of time, effort, and money. However, development is just the beginning. Keeping those documents current entails continuous monitoring. In fact, KRS 160.340 states that policies are public records that must be kept up-to-date by filing annual amendments as needed by August 15 of each year.

Through its Update/Maintenance component, KSBA’s Policy & Procedure Services helps districts keep their policies and procedures current by:

• Monitoring legal and educational issues on a continuing basis.
• Sending each subscribing district an annual (usually in early June) customized update for its policies and procedures (if applicable).
• Researching pertinent issues at a district’s request.
• Drafting new policy/procedure language.

The KSBA Policy & Procedure Services is a member of the American Association of State Policy Services (AASPS), which provides access to a variety of policy information.
