Update: School communications professional development entries now being accepted for 17th annual OASIS program

With about a month to go before this year’s entry deadline, Kentucky schools seem to like at least one of the changes to this year’s OASIS (Outstanding Achievement in School Information Services) program for communications and community outreach materials.

As of this week, all of the entry packages submitted for the 17th annual OASIS professional development program have taken advantage of the broadened eligibility for the KSBA Sweepstakes Award. This simply means there is at least one entry in three of the five general classifications: print communications, written communications, photography/ videography, electronic communications and campaigns/programs. In the first five years of the Sweepstakes Award, districts had to designate three individual entries for consideration.

The 2013 rules change allows a district’s body of work to be considered in the Sweepstakes program, while also removing the requirement that a district employee or team select individual entries to be judged for the special award. A representative of KSBA will present the OASIS Sweepstakes Awards at the KYSPRA conference and again at a meeting of the local board of education in each of the four award-winning districts.

All of the rules and resource materials for the 2013 OASIS program are online here  http://www.ksba.org/2013OASISProfessionalDevelopmentProgram.aspx.

All items submitted to the OASIS program are to have been produced between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013. The deadline to enter is July 8.
