Update on search for new KSBA Executive Director: Board of Director’s panel to meet next month to develop renewed search

Just in case you missed the April 8 email to all board members and superintendents, the KSBA Board of Directors has decided to reopen its search for a new executive director to succeed Bill Scott, who is retiring at the end of June.

KSBA President Durward Narramore of Jenkins Independent said the board decided to restart the search process after it was unable to reach agreement on all aspects of a contract offer with the finalist of the initial search.

“The board determined that the best option was to step back, take a breath and start the search anew,” Narramore said. “We will have an interim executive director in place well in advance of Scott’s retirement. And we will renew the search after what I expect to be a short break.

“I would want like to offer a heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to all who sought the job. Both as president and as a member, I appreciate your faith in KSBA as a place worthy of your continued contributions to education,” he said.

The KSBA board’s Governance Committee – consisting of the three officers and three chairmen of the other standing committees – are to meet May 11 to discuss next steps, including a new timetable, a new screening committee and the process to name an interim executive director.

Final action on those and related items will be taken up by the full KSBA board at its quarterly meeting in June.
