KSBA to launch new website this week

KSBA’s presence on the World Wide Web will take on a new look this week, and the changes will involve more than just a cosmetic update.

The association’s new website has been in development for several months, the results of work by most members of the staff in collaboration with eSchooView, a Columbus, OH web design and development firm which has helped create websites for several Kentucky and Ohio school districts.

Most of the features known to regular users ofhttp://www.ksba.org/have been retained, including e-mail access to association staff, an ASK KSBA function to post questions when visitors don’t know exactly who to contact, and information about association services, upcoming meetings and special announcements.

But the new website will add several features to enhance this online service, including:

·        A series of “flash tab” links on the homepage that will highlight new services, online registration for conferences or other announcements of broad member interest

·        A video section called KSBA FYI (For Your Information) will have brief interviews about KSBA programs. Executive Director Bill Scott discusses the upcoming Fall Regional Meetings’ program in the inaugural video

·        Expanded calendars of future events both for KSBA and training opportunities provided by the Kentucky Center for School Safety

·        Updated service-by-service webpages with additional resources and documents related to each program

·        A new design for the online version of KSBA’s magazine, the Kentucky School Advocate, which will enable readers to visit article and columns individually (as opposed to the previous online design that was a pdf-version of the entire magazine).

KSBA will send an e-mail announcement to all members once the new website goes live.
