KSBA begins working with regional ed co-ops to plan special board member training events

As part of KSBA’s commitment to providing more opportunities for board members to attain the mandated annual training in ethics, superintendent evaluation, and finance, the association’s Board Team Development unit is in discussions with the state’s eight regional educational cooperatives to offer special sessions on these topics.

An email was sent to all board members last week, announcing the first session tonight in Eddyville with the Western Kentucky Educational Cooperative.

The next session is this Saturday, July 26 with the Northern Kentucky Cooperative for Educational Services. It will be at Erlanger-Elsmere’s Lloyd High School, Dietz Auditorium, 450 Bartlett Avenue, Erlanger.

Board members and superintendents from any district are invited to participate in these sessions.

The July 26 training in Erlanger runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will cover finance relating to findings of the state auditor’s office, superintendent evaluation , and ethics. Members may participate in the entire event to receive training in all three topics or attend only for the topic they need. Each session amounts to one hour of board training (total of three hours for the attending the entire event) and qualifies for the KSBA Academy of Studies general elective credit.

The registration fee for the finance/state audits and ethics training sessions is $25 per participant for each class. The superintendent effectiveness training session will be provided at no cost through a partnership with the Prichard Committee and funding from the Gates Foundation.

Registration for the training is on the KSBA website (www.ksba.org) under the Events section on the right side of the homepage.
