Combined July/August edition of Kentucky School Advocate magazine going in the mail and online this week

The next edition of the KSBA magazine, Kentucky School Advocate, is a combined issue for the months of July and August to enable staff to cover the mid-July Summer Leadership Institute (plus to allow for a break period from producing the magazine over the other 10 months of the year).

Coming in the new Kentucky School Advocate are articles on:

      · A Kentucky district decides to drop its unique four-day-week calendar and return to a more traditional class schedule.

      · Assessments of the efforts to introduce more physical exercise and healthier cafeteria foods into Kentucky schools.

      · How a northern Kentucky district is giving its youngest learners a different kind of head start on kindergarten readiness.

      · Top KDE officials share insights into common issues that have faced districts in which leaders discover their districts are fiscally challenged.

      · Coverage of the KSBA Summer Leadership Institute’s two keynote speakers and advocacy honors announced during the conference.

      · Tips on thinking outside the box to make this year’s opening day of school something to remember for your employees and students.

All this packaged around the popular features People Are Talking and Take Note and a commentary by KSBA President Durward Narramore on maintaining the advocacy push for school funding.

The Kentucky School Advocate also is published online on the KSBA website (www.ksba.org) on the lower section of the homepage. The new edition will appear there by the end of this week.
