May edition of KSBA magazine, Kentucky School Advocate, covers school design and tornadoes

The latest edition of the Kentucky School Advocate is available on the KSBA website as of today, as well as moving through the U.S. mails to board members, superintendents and other readers.

This month’s magazine takes an extensive look at how school facility design in Kentucky is changing and how those changes may help in situations such as the March 2 tornadoes that destroyed and/or damaged schools in several districts. Also in the magazine two school leaders reflect on response and recovery from a 2005 tornado that struck their district.

Other articles in the May Kentucky School Advocate include:
*  Kentucky schools and state Department of Agriculture cooperate on improvements in school cafeteria offerings, featuring homegrown products.
Boone County Schools’ Response to Intervention has made a difference in special education student referrals and earned the latest PEAK (Public Education Achieves in Kentucky) Award.
Students from multiple northern Kentucky districts band together to find ways to improve their schools.

The magazine also includes the regular features People Are Talking, Get Your Message Out, Take Note and a message from KSBA President Tom Blankenship.
