Registration still open for KSBA’s 11th annual Federal and State School Law Update this Thursday and Friday in Lexington

There is still time to register and attend this week’s comprehensive update on school law in Kentucky, including changes in federal law and court rulings impacting school management and decision making.

The 11th annual KSBA Federal & State Law Update is Thursday and Friday at the Griffin Gate Marriott in Lexington. Participants may register to attend both days or either day as a one-day option. Online registration may be accessed here.

In addition to information and continuing education training hours for school board attorneys, superintendents and other educators, school board members are eligible for training credit that can meet both annual requirements and KSBA Academy of Studies advanced level certification.

Presentations will cover many bills (including school accountability, religious freedom in schools and charter schools) passed by the 2017 General Assembly.

Other topics on the program include:

• New reporting requirements for school personnel

• Policy and procedure changes

• School safety “hot button” issues

• The federal Every Student Succeeds Act law

• Opinions of the Kentucky Attorney General and court rulings
