Looking ahead to what’s coming in your May edition of the KSBA magazine, Kentucky School Advocate

As some Kentucky districts race to meet Friday’s deadline to join next year’s nontraditional instructional day program through KDE, students, teachers and parents are sharing what they experienced during this year’s first full year of the program. And they’ve shared their insights in the May edition of the Kentucky School Advocate.

Also featured in this month’s magazine is a detailed report on Breckinridge County High School’s intensive “Operation Zero” no dropouts initiative and the announcement of the spring recipient of the KSBA PEAK (Public Education Achieves in Kentucky) Award.

Other May magazine articles and features include:

      · A look ahead to the Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System’s pension options as the legislative interim begins and planning for the 2016 General Assembly starts, too.

      · How some schools are using the TELL Kentucky workplace survey information to maintain an engaged and satisfied staff.

      · Examining the Elizabethtown Independent High School program – Power Pact – that brings parents and students together with educators to talk about college and career goals.

      · An In Conversation With discussion on how environmental education is becoming a growing option in Kentucky schools.

      · Lessons from the school board of Kentucky’s largest district on how to engage staff and parents with a regular listening tour around the district.

      · A photo feature trip around the Anderson County Schools to give community leaders an up-close look at what’s new in the district

All this and the regular Kentucky School Advocate items People Are Talking, Take Note and commentary by a KSBA leader.

Look for the magazine in your mailboxes this week and online at www.ksba.org on May 1.
