KSBA-SEMP earns second consecutive ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year recognition

For a second straight year, KSBA’s School Energy Managers Project has been chosen to receive the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award for helping Kentucky schools to reduce energy costs and increase energy efficiency in district buildings.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is honoring KSBA–SEMP for sustaining a statewide energy management infrastructure focused on intelligent energy choices for new and existing public schools. SEMP assists district personnel through professional development, evaluation of energy technologies, development and implementation of energy management plans and in moving those plans to actions.

In conjunction with KSBA’s mission of providing services to all Kentucky school districts, SEMP educates board members and district administrators on energy best practices. This effort has been in response to KRS 160.325, which recognized the need for school districts to reduce rising energy costs.

ENERGY STAR has 16,000 partners working to protect the environment through greater energy efficiency, including manufacturers, retailers, public schools, hospitals, real estate companies and home builders.

These accomplishments will be recognized at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on April 20.
