KSBA exec Mike Armstrong back on the job while continuing to recover from January auto accident

KSBA Executive Director Mike Armstrong has returned to limited duty at the association’s Frankfort office as he continues treatment on a leg injury sustained in early January.

Armstrong, who traveled to Louisville for part of last month’s KSBA annual conference, has been in the office daily for the better part of a week.

“It’s good to be getting back in the swing of things, especially to be able to interact face-to-face with our KSBA staff,” he said. “I very much appreciate the work of Associate Executive Director David Baird and the other members of our Leadership Team to fill in when necessary during my absence. Fortunately, technology has allowed me to stay in touch.”

On his medical recovery, Armstrong said, “Given my progress to date, I have been released from home health and now will instead continue with outpatient physical therapy in Frankfort. This is another positive step in my recovery and rehabilitation of my left leg."

“I also want to reiterate the appreciation my wife, Toni, and I have for all of the many wonderful expressions of support from our members across the state. These have come from board members and superintendents I know very well to people I haven’t yet been able to meet but who reached out and offered their prayers and kindness. These have meant more to us than you will ever know,” he said.

Armstrong became KSBA executive director last Oct. 1 after retiring in the summer as superintendent of the Lawrence County Schools.
