Next Tuesday's filing deadline for the Nov. 8 election also is KSBA’s cue for starting the process of collecting data on school board filings. Every election cycle, we keep tabs on how many incumbents file for re-election, along with number of newcomers who are seeking school board seats. This helps us plan for training and also enables us to gauge the level of interest in these positions and stay abreast of trends.
Superintendents and their administrative assistants have historically been our most reliable source of information on election filings, as well as the election outcomes later. As we have done in the past, we will be emailing them short survey forms several days prior to the filing deadline.
