KSBA is expanding its professional development offerings to school board members and educators, and is in the job market for two key players in that effort.
KSBA Executive Director Mike Armstrong said the association’s board of directors recently approved two new positions to support this initiative. One is for a full-time training coordinator and the other is for a full-time attorney who will divide time between attention to training in a variety of law-related topics and to other legal services for the association.
“Board members and superintendents who attend this year’s 12 Fall Regional Meetings will play a large part in helping us craft these new service areas,” Armstrong said. “We’ll be taking instant, electronic polls of participants in such areas as desired legal training topics and how we can maximize our Online Learning Center.”
The job functions for the Board Team Training Coordinator will include assisting with developing, coordinating and delivering board team professional development services and conference programming. This also includes maintaining accurate training records and responding to member/others’ inquiries. The individual will oversee training offerings through the KSBA Online Learning Center.
The post requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, at least three years’ experience in professional development practices and other duties related to the position.
The responsibilities for the Staff Attorney/Legal Training Services post calls for developing, organizing and presenting on-site and distance learning training sessions and preparing training material relevant to Kentucky school district governance and related school law issues. The successful applicant also will assist in other association legal areas.
Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Kentucky with a minimum of three years of school law experience.
Both positions are Frankfort-based but will require some travel around the state with occasional evening and weekend work, including overnight stays. Information about the positions is available here.
