Congrats to our Lewis County Middle School for best district attendance on High Attendance Day! Very proud of our staff and students for working towards this goal and becoming a success!

Many Lewis County students are always reaching towards goals in all aspects of our endeavors, whether it is academic or athletic. Many athletic/academic events are occurring in the next few weeks, even during our fall break which is October 3-7. Check the Calendar of Events for upcoming activities.

The 4-H Club will be at the LCMS on September 29. Mrs. Bentley and Mrs. Wilson do a fine job working with those members of our school with promoting interesting activities and educational information. Many opportunities are offered to students through this program.

The LCMS Talent Search members will meet in the library on October 11. This program is conducted by Mrs. Summer Bryant, an instruction through Morehead State University. She offers students much valuable information about college and career opportunities.

The end of the nine weeks will end October 18. Students try and get all homework and test accounted for within classes. Infinite Campus is a wonderful tool for parents/guardians to check grades. An app is also available for some interested parents. LCMS’ first Parent Teacher Conference of the year will be held October 20th 3:30- 6:30PM. This is a great time for parents/guardians to visit teachers and pick up the student’s grades.

The Dental program which assists all students that received parent/guardian permission will return October 10- 13. Students’ teeth will be checked by trained personnel. Issues with teeth will be shared with parents/guardians concerning the condition of the students’ teeth.

Those students that are members of the LCMS’ Breakfast Club will meet on October 19. This is a time that members will meet with a volunteer from the community to discuss grades, school issues, or any other subject the student deems important.

There are many new faculty members this year at the middle school and each article in the next weeks will feature one and hopefully, a picture. This week’s featured new teacher is Mr. Joshua Coleman. This is Mr. Coleman’s introduction:

“Hello, my name is Josh Coleman and I am a new teacher here at LCMS. I teach eighth grade English and Bridges to Algebra, along with being the new coach for the boys' middle school basketball team. I am originally from Lancaster, Ohio and went to college at Morehead State University. I grew up with two older brothers, they are both married, living in Kentucky, and are teachers as well. Throughout my life, I have been very involved with sports, basketball being my favorite. Now, I am happily married to my wife, Kayla, with a beautiful Golden Retriever, named Copper. I just graduated from college in May, so this will be my first year teaching. I am very excited to be working here at LCMS and am ready to see all the students succeed!”

The LCMS staff and students wish Mr. Coleman “Good Luck” this year and all are proud he’s a part of the team!

Once again, Fall break is coming up soon, October 3-7. Everyone have a fun and safe break!
