Local school board members and superintendents will have nearly two days of exposure to new ideas and tried-and-true leadership concepts early next month when they attend this year’s KSBA Winter Symposium, the final major school board member training opportunity, Dec. 2-3 at the Marriott Louisville East Hotel and Conference Center.
Some of the highlights of the conference include:
· A two-day “boot camp” for newly elected and/or appointed school board members.
· More than two dozen clinics on school leadership topics from preschool and education law to board/SBDM council relationships and safety issues.
· And multiple opportunities to complete mandatory training in school finance, ethics and superintendent evaluations.
The conference opens Friday at 9 a.m. and closes Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
Registration is $215 per person and is available online here. Registration covers all training materials, lunch on Friday and a continental breakfast on Saturday.
A block of rooms is being held at the Marriott Louisville East for the KSBA Winter Symposium for Dec. 1-3 at the rate of $113 a night (plus tax). The deadline to make lodging reservations is Nov. 17.
