KSBA again seeks student art banners depicting the theme of the association's annual conference for display in hallways and meeting rooms of the Galt House East during next year’s Feb. 27-March 1 event.
Each district is invited to send one banner designed around the conference theme, "Kentucky Public Schools - The Courage to Lead." The banners are a visual reminder to conference participants of the focus on students and learning.
Ready-made banners can be ordered by fax or mail from: Shumaker’s Inc., P. O. Box 4058, Lexington, KY 40544, phone (859) 533-6508; fax: (859) 278-4638.
Please request Shumaker Banner #5845, in a cardboard shipping tube. Allow one week for delivery. (Banners will be shipped beginning Oct. 1). KSBA has arranged a minimal cost for these materials, including shipping and handling, at $49 payable by the school district to Shumaker’s. Banner #5845 measures 45 by 58 inches, and is an all-purpose, lightweight, hemmed banner cloth with three grommets on the top edge. Note that designs using materials other than banner #5845 should conform to these same specifications to be displayed. Shumaker’s is requesting that districts fax (859-278-4638) their order to them for better recordkeeping.
There are several important notes to be passed along to school art teachers and/or student groups working on the banners:
· All banners must feature the name of the home district on the front panel.
· Banners will be hung vertically due to limited space (i.e.: the 45-inch side as the top of the banner). Please do not design your banner to be hung horizontally.
· All banners must depict the conference theme (“Kentucky Public Schools – The Courage to Lead”) to be considered for display.
The KSBA Annual Conference Planning Committee reserves the right to select banners for display. Banners will be returned to district offices by the end of March.
