KSBA annual Special Education Conference set for Aug. 15-16 in Lexington; latest in "legal and practical guidance" on tap

This year’s KSBA training for special education directors and related staff will be Aug. 15-16 at the Embassy Suites in Lexington.  Superintendents are asked for forward this information to appropriate staff.

This conference presents the latest legal and practical guidance to special education directors and others responsible for compliance with special education requirements in school districts. 

Topics include basics such as budgeting, staffing and legal requirements; an update on KDE activity; and the latest in court cases and opinions from the Office of Special Education Programs and Office of Civil Rights. 

The conference will give special education administrators the tools they need to properly serve students and stay out of legal trouble.  Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the instruction opens at 8:30 both days.

Fogle III,  KSBA staff attorney;Johnny Collette, director of the Division of Learning Servicesat the Kentucky Department of Education; and Larry Taylor, director of special education for the Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative.

Registration

The registration fee is
$200 per person for one day for KSBA Special Education Service members; or $600 per person for one day for non-Special Education Service members. The cost for both days of training is $350 per person for KSBA Special Education Service members, or $1,050 per person for individuals who are not members of the KSBA service.
