KSBA schedules special training event on new state student restraint and seclusion regulation; July 15 in Lexington

Educators have plenty of questions about compliance with Kentucky’s new regulation spelling out rules and limitations on how and when unruly students may be restrained and/or secluded by school staff. A special one-day conference devoted exclusively to the new regulation will be July 15 at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Newtown Pike in Lexington

Training for school staff at the event will include:

* When staff should restrain and/or seclude students

* KSBA model policy and procedure

The meaning of references to KRS Chapter 503 in the regulation; 

* Documenting the incident

* The debriefing session

* The complaint process
