The first day of kindergarten – it’s a big step and significant milestone for every child.
As Kentucky schools have begun to administer a school-readiness survey to test kindergarteners' basic knowledge, social skills, and capacity to learn reading and math, the Kentucky Department of Education recently reported that only 28 percent of incoming kindergartners were prepared to succeed without additional resources and services.
Many studies have shown that high-quality early childhood education is especially beneficial to prepare a child to be ready to learn. That’s why KET is helping to develop young minds as a trusted guide for all children, regardless of their family’s income or background.
More than 40 percent of KET’s broadcast hours are dedicated to nonviolent, commercial-free, educational children’s programming.
