Want local training? Sessions available in your district for new school board members and new roles for returning members

Kentucky boards of education have high numbers of new members in 2013 and many school boards have returning members taking on new roles as chairman or vice chairman.

KSBA can help with fast-track training for these board members. The association has several 75-minute training sessions that can be offered in districts to bring members quickly up to speed on their new roles and responsibilities. The targeted training covers topics such as effective school boards and board/superintendent relations, the role of the board chair, successful meetings and parliamentary procedure.

Members of the KSBA staff and Training Cadre facilitate any of these sessions on site in the district to make training more accessible to board teams. The standard training fee of $150 per credit hour plus travel expenses of the trainer includes handouts and materials for the board/superintendent team participants as well as credit toward the annual training requirement for board members.

For more information and to schedule a training session, please contact Jean Crowley at KSBA by phone 1-800-372-2962 or [email protected].
