Financial literacy advocates sponsor student poster contest for grades 6, 7 and 8

Kentucky students in grades 6, 7 and 8 are eligible to participate in the Kentucky Saves Week poster contest sponsored by the Kentucky Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.

One lucky winner from each grade level will receive a $50 U.S. savings bond. A selection of student artwork will be displayed in the state Capitol during Kentucky Saves Week, Feb. 19-26, 2012. Classes and groups are welcome to participate, and individual students also can submit entries. The posters should illustrate the theme “Save Today and It Will Pay!”

Rules and Guidelines

Eligibility

The 2012 Kentucky Saves Week Poster Contest is open to all Kentucky students in sixth, seventh or eighth grade. The contest is open to individuals, classes and non-school related groups, but only for those students in the grades listed above. 

Specifications

All posters must be 8 ½-by-11-inches on white paper/stock. Original hand-drawn and/or computer-generated artwork is accepted.

Labeling

To be eligible,all posters must have an official Kentucky Saves Week Entry Form attached to the back of the poster. “N/A” can be used where needed.

Deadline

The deadline for submissions is Jan. 31, 2012. All submissions must bereceivedno later than Jan. 31, 2012 and postmarked prior to that date.

Judging

Posters will be judged on expression of the theme (40 percent); artwork style and content (30 percent); and creativity (30 percent).

Prizes

The first-place winner from each grade level will receive a $50 U.S. savings bond, and the winning posters will be displayed at the Kentucky State Capitol during Kentucky Saves Week, February 19-26, 2012. Other students also will be recognized for their work, as an additional selection of posters will be chosen for display.
