Board members, superintendents invited to 2012 legislative agenda session July 8
KSBA’s Governmental Relations Service once again will host a Legislative Issues Group meeting on the eve of the association’s Summer Leadership Institute. The 2012 legislative session will be critical for local school districts, especially since the legislature will consider a new biennial budget.

The July 8 meeting at Lexington’s Marriott Griffin Gate Resort will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch, where a guest speaker will focus on federal issues. Following lunch, education consultant Susan Weston will discuss education funding in Kentucky. We also will hear from state Rep. Bill Farmer on comprehensive tax reform. As always, attendees will break into small groups to discuss employee policy issues, education funding, reform strategies and assessment and accountability issues.

The cost of the Legislative Issues Group meeting is $75 per person. School board members will receive training credit and KSBA has applied for EILA credit.

Please check our website KSBA as registration information will be online soon. For more information contact Jhan Wilson [email protected] at (502) 783-0071.
