KSBA on Facebook: for school leaders who want to know more
KSBA’s social media information outlets — Facebook and Twitter — continue to grow as more school leaders learn of the service.

As of the end of April, KSBA’s Facebook page was being checked out an average of 154 times a day, seven days a week and the postings on Twitter were being followed by 441 users of that social media program.

In April, KSBA staff posted 174 items on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Here are some recent examples:

-Judge orders Virginia district to release superintendent’s e-mails relating to decision to close elementary school
-Commissioner Holliday, other states’ ed leaders heading to China for talks with educators there about standards, teaching
-USED gives states new rules on protecting student privacy as part of mandated data systems on academics
-Students at three Seattle high schools suspected of having hacked computers, stolen teachers’ passwords to change grades
-Report: Kentuckians 18-24 have highest obesity rate in the nation; group presses for changes, including some in schools
-Computer problems at testing company’s headquarters interrupts online exams for as many as 10,000 Indiana students
-Records show millions contributed to Pa. candidates for office by major proponents, opponents of private school vouchers
-California’s budget crisis has some talking about a shorter school year – perhaps by several weeks – to reduce shortfall
-Growing number of charter schools struggle to find, keep quality leaders; survey: 71% plan to leave jobs in five years
-Tennessee moving hundreds of principals, assistants to 12-month contracts to increase time spent on teacher evaluations
-High costs of state standardized testing has some legislatures dropping state-level exams beyond requirements of NCLB

KSBA’s Facebook page also includes alerts on breaking news about Kentucky schools between the regular morning and afternoon cycles of the association’s eNews subscription service, as well as the Today in Education History trivia feature about education happenings that took place on that day of the week.

KSBA Facebook and Twitter pages are updated Monday – Friday and on weekends as needed.
