Submission

The 85th American School Health Conference will be held at the Galt House in Louisville next month. This year’s conference theme, “Limitless Possibilities: School Health in the New Decade,” will highlight ways to work with a variety of individuals and groups to improve health outcomes and learning success among children and youth.

The American School Health Association’s 2011 conference will address ways to develop collaborations with multidisciplinary groups within the various components of coordinated school health. More than 400 school health professionals are expected for the four-day conference, Oct. 12-15, which includes educational sessions and two days of exhibits.

ASHA is pleased to have Gene Wilhoit, executive director of the Council of Chief State School Officers and former Kentucky education commissioner, as the keynote speaker of the conference Oct. 13 His understanding of the coordinated school health model and his visionary leadership to the future of education makes him the perfect person to share thoughts on school health and education in the next decade.

Continuing education units will be available for school nurses, and administrators will receive 6 ELIA credits for attending the conference. For more information and registration about the conference, please go to http://www.ashaweb.org/.
