Registration opens for KDE “Improving Productivity” conference
The Kentucky Department of Education will host a one-day conference designed to share ideas for increasing the operational productivity of schools and districts.

The event will take place Nov. 10 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Louisville.

The keynote speaker at the event will be U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan.

The conference is being planned in cooperation with the Kentucky Center for Performance Excellence, the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, KSBA, the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents and the Kentucky Association of School Administrators.

In his most recent Fast Five on Friday e-mail to state education leaders, Education Commissioner Terry Holliday said, “This conference is a professional growth opportunity for school district administrators and other education partners interested in improving the operation of their schools and districts. Participants will learn about how to improve processes and practices and how we must learn to operate in new and innovative ways.

“In addition to Secretary Duncan, national productivity experts will speak on education productivity and Kentucky education leaders who have submitted best practices to the PEEK website will share approaches that have worked for them. Each district is encouraged to send a team of three, which should include the superintendent, a member of the district management team (such as the chief financial officer) and a school board member,” he said.

The cost for this conference is $200 per team of three. Registration includes morning coffee and a box lunch. The individual registration cost is $75 per person.

Registration is now open here http://www.education.ky.gov/FormServ/Default.aspx?ID=KDE_Best_Practices to register your team and take advantage of the discounted team registration rate of $200. Space is limited; therefore, each district is limited to a team of three until Oct. 15. After the Oct. 15 cut-off date, districts will be allowed to request additional registrations depending upon availability.
