USED provides resources for mandatory instruction about U.S. Constitution

Sept. 17 is Constitution/Citizenship Day, commemorating the Sept. 17, 1787 signing of the U.S. Constitution. Congress has mandated that every school receiving federal funds to provide instructional sessions about the Constitution.

Since Sept. 17 of this year falls on a Saturday, schools may celebrate either the preceding of the following week.

To assist educators in these studies, the U.S. Department of Education has collaborated with the National History Education Clearinghouse and the National Archives and Records Administration to provide an online list of materials and resources for Constitution/Citizenship Day.
