Last week, Gov. Steve Beshear issued a proclamation honoring Kentucky’s local boards of education members as part of the observation of January as School Board Recognition Month.
The governor has proclaimed that the week of Jan. 24-31 is School Board Recognition Week. The proclamation reads as follows:
Whereas, Kentucky’s local school boards represent the voices of the communities that they serve; and
Whereas, Local school boards ensure that the school districts meet community expectations; and
Whereas, Local school boards act as community agents by setting the vision of the school district; and
Whereas, Local school boards hire superintendents to implement that vision; and
Whereas, Local school boards in Kentucky envision the preparation of all students for college and career preparedness;
Now, therefore, I, Steven L. Beshear, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, do hereby proclaim January 24 – 31, 2012, as School Board Recognition Week in Kentucky.
