Kids First Legislative Reception Wednesday will include announcement of 2014 KSBA legislative advocacy award recipients

A state senator and a state representative will be recognized for their work on behalf of Kentucky schools and students during the Wednesday evening legislative reception in Frankfort that kicks off KSBA’s two-day lobbying event for board members and superintendents.

The Kids First Advocacy Conference and Lobbying Day begins with the annual legislative reception at the Capital Plaza Hotel in downtown Frankfort at 6 p.m. ET (registration opens at 5 p.m.). The two honorees will be introduced during ceremonies during the reception.

On Thursday, House Speaker Greg Stumbo and Senate President Robert Stivers will speak to participants during a breakfast session as part of preparations for the day’s activities at the Capitol and Capitol Annex. Board members and superintendents will be meeting with their legislators, attending the Senate Education Committee meeting Thursday morning and, in the afternoon, will be able to attend sessions of the full House and Senate.

The KSBA Kids First Advocacy Awards for a board member and superintendent will be announced during the Summer Leadership Institute July 11-12 in Lexington.
