Annual Kentucky Safe Schools and Communities Conference set for June 9-10 in Louisville; broad range of topics slated

KSBA and the Kentucky Center for School Safety will again host a professional development event on school security issues for educators this summer.

The annual Kentucky Safe Schools and Communities Conference will be June 9-10 at the Louisville Marriott East just off Hurstbourne Lane. The event is being supported by the Kentucky Association of School Resource Officers, the Kentucky Crime Prevention Coalition and the Kentucky D.A.R.E. Association. A one-day training for D.A.R.E. program participants will follow on June 11.

Online registration is scheduled to begin April 1 on the KSBA and KCSS websites.

Keynote addresses at the event will be provided by Charlie Applestein, a Salem, N.H.-based author, trainer and 25-year child welfare worker who specializes in helping troubled students; and Wayne Young, attorney and executive director of the Kentucky Association of School Administrators.
