Lineup of keynote speakers announced for the 2014 NSBA national conference in New Orleans

The National School Boards Association is firming up its main speakers for next year’s conference in New Orleans, April 5-7.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The World is Flat and New York Times columnist, Thomas L. Friedman, will open the conference at the first General Session on Saturday.

Sunday’s keynote remarks will be given by Sir Ken Robinson, Ph.D., an internationally recognized leader in the development of education, creativity, and innovation. His books include, The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything, Out of Our Minds: Learning to be Creative and Finding Your Element: How to Discover Your Talents and Passions and Transform Your Life.

Monday’s final General Session will be 17-year-old Nikhil Goyal, author of One Size Does Not Fit All: A Student’s Assessment of School. In 2012, Goyal was named one of the “World Changers” for Dell #Inspire 100. He is also on Forbes magazine's 2013 list of 30 Under 30: Education and ORIGIN Magazine: The Nation’s Top Creatives. Sharing the program with Goyal will be 22-year education consultant and author, Angela Maiers, an expert in teacher engagement and how literacy can change lives.
