NSBA past presidents seeking board members interested in tour of World War II sites in Europe this summer

Submission

Former NSBA presidents Ed Massey of Boone County in Kentucky and David Pickler of Memphis, Tenn., are working with Education First, an international education language and touring company, to offer board members and others in education a chance to travel and learn about Americans in Europe during World War ll.

According to an email from Massey and Pickler, "In Their Footsteps: A World War II Journey for School Board Members" is produced to help school board members understand why this type of activity (embarking on an international tour) is imperative to prepare today’s students for academic and professional success. This trip is open to any individual who supports experiential learning opportunities, and wants to see our country's public school system look beyond the four walls of the classroom.

The tour departs on July 5 on an exclusive tour of Western Europe, including the ongoing commemoration of the 70th anniversary of D-Day. The trip is centered around the footprints of U.S. soldiers in WW II. It will begin in Munich and conclude in Paris.

The trip includes the flight, room accommodations (single occupancy), breakfast each day, five dinners, transfer fees, and admission fees to the beaches and museums. The total package cost is $3,375.

Interested persons have until Sunday, June 1 to register for the tour to reach a minimum number of 20 participants. Again, this trip is open to anyone who supports education without boundaries, so please feel free to share this with your colleagues and friends.

DEADLINE TO COMMIT: JUNE 1

TOUR DATES: JULY 5 - JULY 13
