Grant extended to July 31 to cover fees of local KSBA training of board members in conducting superintendent evaluations
Grant extended to July 31 to cover fees of local KSBA training of board members in conducting superintendent evaluations

Many school districts have taken advantage of the superintendent evaluation training offer provided through a partnership among KSBA, the Prichard Committee and the Gates Foundation. KSBA is pleased to announce that the grant to cover a portion of expenses related to the training has been extended.

Districts with board members who still need to meet their annual training requirement for superintendent evaluation now have until July 31 to receive training in their district. The standard KSBA training fee will be funded through the grant and the district will be responsible only for the travel expenses of the trainer.

Two course offerings are available through this grant.

The 75-minute session, Superintendent Effectiveness, will help board members understand the importance of an effective superintendent evaluation and explore the skills necessary to become more effective evaluators. It also provides an overview of effective evaluation instruments and looks at an effective evaluation process.

The 2-hour session, Effectively Evaluating Your Superintendent, provides much of the same information as the 75-minute session but also discusses the development of an effective evaluation process specifically for your district.

In addition to meeting the mandated topic requirement, both of these training sessions apply to the required minimum number of board training hours each member must earn annually.

Boards may still obtain training in the area of superintendent evaluations August through December, but districts would be responsible for the KSBA fees after the grant expires.

KSBA staff and members of the Training Cadre are available to facilitate training in your district at times convenient for your board/superintendent team.

For more information and to schedule your training session, please contact Jean Crowley at KSBA [email protected] or 800-372-2962.
