Schedule, agenda set for 2014 KSBA Fall Regional Meetings
The focus on this year's KSBA Fall Regional Meetings will be on state training requirements that affect every board and board member in Kentucky.
By December, all 173 school boards must inform the Kentucky Department of Education on their planned processes for evaluating superintendent performance in the future. And, as superintendent evaluations are one of the three newly-mandated training areas for all local board members, the Fall Regional Meetings will center around this area - plus bonus training in the other two mandatory training topics - school finance and board member ethics.
The plan calls for the evening program - usually starting after dinner, around 7 p.m. local time - to be devoted to the latest information on the state's requirements for boards in evaluating the job done by their superintendents.
Additionally, KSBA will be offering pre-regional meeting workshops - on an as needed, preregistration-required basis - in the areas of ethics and finance. These 75-minute classes would begin around 4:30 p.m., depending on sufficient registration requests. Registrants would be able to choose one or the other of the two topical sessions.
The regional host disticts are sending information to all superintendents and board members.
