Needed: Student artists and musicians, and clinic presenters for KSBA annual conference Feb. 22-24 in Louisville: table decorations, performers and banners

Don’t let a Halloween deadline scare you away from putting your district’s student performers and artists on display at the 77thannual conference of the Kentucky School Boards Association.

KSBA Board Team Development Service Director Kerri Schelling is seeking to put student art on display in a variety of forms for the anticipated 1,000 attendees for the Feb. 22-24 event at Louisville’s Galt House Hotels.

All of the needed forms may be found on the KSBA website here  http://ksba.org/AnnualConference.aspx.

Music

Student musical performers are needed for Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning performances (the Friday slots are filled).

Much of the conference format lends itself best to instrumental and/or vocal music that can be “background” music for conference activities such as meals and receptions.

All submissions will be reviewed by a panel of planning committee members and KSBA staff. It is recommended that an audio and/or video audition tape be included.  Tapes will not be returned unless requested by the district.

Meal and lodging costs for students and district chaperones are the responsibility of their  school boards.  Limited funds are available to help offset transportation costs for student performers.

The deadline to complete the submission forms is Oct. 31.

Table decorations

KSBA is seeking a district (or several districts working together) to provide table decorations for the Saturday luncheon session, the largest single gathering of conference participants of the event.

There are 120 tables total, but they do not all necessarily need identical centerpieces (or a centerpiece at all).  Dimensions are a maximum footprint of 10 inches, maximum height of 14 inches.

If your district is interested or simply would like more information, please contact Shelling by Nov. 16 at [email protected] or 800-372-2962. First come, first served.

Banners

The work of student artists has been a celebrated tradition at the KSBA annual conference for many years and 2013 is no exception.

Banners will feature the theme of the conference:Kentucky Public Schools – Taking the Next Step.

All of the information that you’ll need is located on the KSBA website at the link above. Banners must be received by Jan. 28 and will be returned.

District/board/school workshops

The learning opportunities are the big draw for the KSBA conference, and district programs are huge players on this stage. Most session slots are 75 minutes although a few, highly interactive three-hour sessions will be on the schedule.

Workshops must relate to local school board team roles and responsibilities, be relevant to conference themes and goals and identify what the participants will know and be able to do as a result of their attendance at the session.

The deadline to submit workshop proposals is Oct. 31 and – you guessed it – the forms are all posted at the link above.
