KSBA seeks nominations for 10th anniversary of Kids First Advocacy Awards; state senator, representative, superintendent and board member

School board members and superintendents are being asked to nominate colleagues and legislative members for KSBA’s Kids First Advocacy Awards, Class of 2013.

This will be the 10thanniversary of the Kids First awards, which recognize a state senator, state representative, superintendent and local board of education member for exemplary work on the state or federal legislative levels on issues relating to public education in Kentucky.

Nominees must be a current office holder or one leaving office at the first of 2013. A committee of the KSBA Board of Directors will review the nominations and select the award recipients. The deadline for submission is Dec. 1.

The two General Assembly members chosen will be honored during the KSBA Kids First Advocacy Conference that will take place during the 2013 session.  The board member and superintendent will be saluted at KSBA’s Summer Leadership Institute next July.

How to nominate a senator and/or representative

In a maximum of two typed, double-spaced pages, (limit 500 words per page), please describe how your nominee has:

      Demonstrated his or her commitment to furthering the success of public schools in Kentucky.

      Championed legislative initiatives that have created opportunities for all Kentucky children to learn at high levels.

      Supported your local schools and educational community.

How to nominate a school board member and/or superintendent

In a maximum of two typed, double-spaced pages, (limit 500 words per page), please describe how your nominee has:

      Worked as an advocate on legislative initiatives for Kentucky’s children.

      Demonstrated his or her commitment to furthering the success of public schools in Kentucky.

      Worked in his or her local community to garner support for public schools from elected officials and the community.
