Update: NSBA to press Congress for solution to sequestration/fiscal cliff across-the-board funding cuts

From the National School Boards Association

This month, NSBA will present to Congress our first batch of board resolutions (now 200-plus) that school boards from across the country have passed to urge Congress to stop sequestration.  NSBA wants to use them to impact the initial Congressional negotiations.

NSBA will continue to present to Congress board resolutions – even after our first presentation of resolutions to Congress this month.

(KSBA note: As of Nov. 15, 23 Kentucky boards of education had adopted and forwarded their resolutions either to KSBA or NSBA. The following boards are on record as of that date calling on Congress to act:

Adair County
Ballard County
Bardstown Independent
Boone County
Burgin Independent
Carlisle County
Eminence Independent
Franklin County
Gallatin County
Hancock County
Henry County
Jefferson County
Jessamine County
Kenton County
Lee County
Livingston County
Madison County
Marion County
Marshall County
Murray Independent
Simpson County
Trigg County
Walton-Verona Independent

Of all states, only Oklahoma has had more local school boards respond to NSBA’s call to action.
