Proposals sought for 2013 Safe Schools and Communities conference; deadline to submit is Jan. 11

The 10th annual Safe Schools and Communities Conference will convene June 10-11 in Louisville at the Marriot East Hotel. And work is under way on the agenda of presenters.

A limited number of workshops will be available for individuals and groups interested in being featured during the conference. Priority will be given to proposals that focus on the roles and responsibilities of students and school personnel, along with community resources that reduce threats and create a positive school culture and climate to improve student achievement.

Please take time to consider the following questions as you develop your proposal.

Does your proposal:

·        Promote best practices in school safety or school climate and culture?

·        Encourage audience participation as opposed to simply lecturing?

·        Provide "How To" strategies that others can replicate?

·        Give at least one piece of information that your participants can take away to duplicate in their school/community?

The conference registration fee will be waived for one presenter per workshop. Additional presenters will be expected to pay registration if they plan to attend the conference. Limited funds are available for out-of-state travel expenses. All workshop rooms will be set up in classroom style unless another arrangement is requested.

Proposals must be received by Jan. 11 to be considered for inclusion.  Those making submissions will be notified by mid-February of their status.
