Deadline rapidly approaching to apply for four open director-at-large positions on the KSBA Board of Directors

Are you interested in being a player in education advocacy at the state level?

Would you like to take a leadership role in working to support school boards?

Do you want to have a vote on hiring the next KSBA executive director?

All of these responsibilities await four applicants to fill open seats as directors-at-large on the KSBA Board of Directors. But if you want to toss your name into the hat, you've got to act by next Thursday, Nov. 15.

That's the deadline to submit a completed self-nomination form - available here http://www.ksba.org/about.aspx -- and returning it to KSBA by the close of business Nov. 15.  You may return the nomination form via mail, fax or email per the instructions on the form.

The four incumbents in those director-at-large seats are not eligible for re-election, so come one, come all.

Immediate Past President Delmar Mahan of Whitley County chairs the nominating committee, made up of members of the KSBA board and selected school board members from around the state.  The nomination process this year is the first under newly ratified amendments to the association bylaws. The committee will report back to the membership with its recommendations in January and then the names will be submitted to the membership for ratification at the annual business meeting. Each nominee will be provided an opportunity to make a two-minute speech at the business meeting.

One important caveat is the association bylaw that no local board member would be eligible for election to the KSBA board for a term that would coincide with the term of another member from that same school board already on the association's board.

If you have any questions about the selection process or about service on our board of directors, please feel free to contact Kathy Amburgey [email protected] or Executive Director Bill Scott [email protected] at 800-372-2962.
