The Kentucky School Plant Management Association (KSPMA) is offering a scholarship to Kentucky high school seniors, GED graduates and school district employees desiring to further their skills. The scholarship may be used to attend a postsecondary program with a major in a trade area related to school plant operations or to take a class or classes that would improve work skills for possible job advancement.
Applicants must select the proper form for the type of scholarship for which they are applying.
Application No. 1 is for the graduating high school student enrolling in a postsecondary institution. A scholarship may be awarded for two successive years in the amount of $1,000 per year, maximum total scholarship amount of $2,000 over two years. Successful completion of classes is required for continuation of this scholarship from one semester to the next semester. This scholarship will be offered only to Kentucky residents. The scholarship funds for the winning recipients will be provided to the postsecondary institution upon notification of enrollment and/or continued semester success.
Application No. 2 is for the Kentucky school district employee desiring to enroll for a class or classes through a postsecondary institution or trade school. A scholarship may be awarded for up to two years of classes over two successive years, with no scholarship payment per year exceeding $1,000, maximum total scholarship amount of $2,000 over two years. Successful completion of each class is required for continuation of this scholarship from one semester or class to the next semester or class and be in a trade area related to school plant operations. The scholarship funds for the winning recipient will be provided directly to the postsecondary institution or trade school upon notification of enrollment and/or continued semester success and shall not exceed $1,000 or the sum of the class tuition and any books, class or material kit fees, should it not exceed $1,000 per year.
If the institution is not able to set up an account for the cost of books and class materials, the applicant may request direct reimbursement from KSPMA, with that amount being deducted from scholarship award.
The KSPMA Board of Directors shall determine the number of Scholarship Awards. The award will be either a high school or GED graduating student (Application Form No. 1) or a school district employee (Application Form No. 2) per each region; however, the Board reserves the right to make multiple awards per region.
