Every day is special…..well, almost.
It is … … if you’re a teacher looking to tie a lesson, a unit or book to a content-relevant holiday or observation. Or need a timely activity or bell-ringer to spark interest.
It is … if you’re a school district administrator trying to schedule a local event around the time of state athletic tournaments.
It is … if you’re a principal who wants to perk up staff and students with something unexpected to celebrate.
It is … if you’re a superintendent who needs to know the date of the future meetings of statewide and/or national organizations’ professional development conferences.
You could spend your spare time digging up this information by visiting hundreds of different websites. But soon, you’ll have a new option that compiles all these dates in a single document: It’s a Date! KSBA’s School Calendar Planning Service.
It’s a simple listing that includes dates of interest to educators, students and parents, ranging from national holidays and observances like National School Lunch Week and National Bird Day to the Kentucky Sweet 16 basketball tournaments and state Board of Education meetings. All listings with online websites will be linked so you can find resources or more information.
And as dates are scheduled for education-related items throughout the year, subscribers will receive periodic updates to add to their master listing.
It’s a Date! is clean of formatting so calendar items can easily be slipped into your own district/school calendars or events listings. A single subscription of $100 permits districts to redistribute this resource in its entirety to all your teachers, principals and district administrators.
This calendar planning service is concurrent with the school year, running from July 1 through June 30.
Look for subscription information coming later this month to superintendents, KOSAA and KYSPRA members and in a future edition of Boardcast.
